Grateful Gatherings Blog Hop | Autumn Home Tour

As the temperature begins to drop, Autumn brings a new array of cozy delights to be excited and thankful for! It's a time when we prepare our homes for family gatherings and create a warm and cozy space to embrace the colder months ahead. I've teamed up with a group of wonderfully talented bloggers for the Grateful Blog Hop Home Tour, and we are going to share some amazing Fall decor with you! If you've joined me from Rhonda's blog, Hallstrom Home, welcome! I'm so happy you are here! Autumn to me means snuggled up under a warm, cozy blanket next to the fire, sweaters and boots, the smell of a yummy pumpkin spice candle, and of course PUMPKINS! If you read my last blog post {click here} you know that I have a little obsession with pumpkins...big or small, I'll take them all!

Welcome...Y'all!

One of my favorite things about living in the south is the tradition of the "welcoming" front porch. The welcoming of family and friends customarily started out on the front porch. It is classically a social affair, where you are offered a seat and a cold glass of sweet tea or lemonade. I love to decorate my front porch for Fall as it's the first thing my guests see as I invite them to come in and sit a spell (for those of you not from the south, that means to come in and visit and take a load off your feet).

For late Fall, I decided to switch out the traditional fall colors that I had here. The inside of my home stays pretty neutral, and I decided to bring those neutral colors outside with cinderella and heirloom pumpkins, white mums, and a simple magnolia wreath.

ENTRYWAY

My indoor fall tour begins at my entry and it is one of my favorite places to decorate. I like this space to look cozy and inviting as I welcome guests into my home. One of my favorite things to do is to decorate with old windows. In my entryway, they hang above my credenza and adorn my foyer ledge that is over 12ft. high. They are simple but elegant, and can be easily decorated from season to season.

FORMAL LIVING and DINING ROOM

As you enter the foyer, my formal living room is on the right, and my dining room is on the left. The two columns that greet you as you enter the formal living room, made me fall in love with this house when we bought it years ago. When we redid the floors a couple years ago, they had to come down. I almost made the decision not to put them back up, but I'm so glad that we did!

The dining room is always my favorite room to decorate. I love creating tablescapes. These adorable pumpkin plates from Pottery Barn where my color inspiration for this years autumn table...continuing the muted tones of orange, green, and white with the cinderella and heirloom pumpkins. The burlap table runner is also from Pottery Barn. The placemats and napkins came from the Target dollar spot, and the wood chargers from Bed Bath & Beyond.

FAMILY ROOM and KITCHEN

At the end of the foyer, you walk into the family room, which is also open to the kitchen. This area is truly "the heart of our home" and where we spend most of our time. The family room is probably my favorite room to decorate. I like to keep it pretty neutral in here with soft colors. This space has a mixture of real and faux pumpkins. To add some simple fall touches, I have used lambs ear, cotton, and birch logs. I love my white tobacco basket and I get asked all the time if I painted it or if I found it that way. I actually found it like this, and I fell in love with it the minute I saw it! Also, how adorable is this "Pumpkin Patch" sign from Down Grace Lane!!!

I added very simple fall touches to my kitchen. We eat most meals at this table, so I like to keep the tablescape here simple. For this tablescape, I stacked the pumpkins on top of a chippy window, added some terra cotta pots for dimension and trimmed it with lambs ear and hops. Then, on each side, I added a simple white candle on a wood riser. I also added a few small vignettes with pumpkins around the kitchen. Add a few pumpkins to any space...and VOILA...instant Fall!

Corner Nook

Next, is this little corner nook that is tucked in between the living room and kitchen. Here I've added some neutral and rustic decor in shades of green and creams. In addition, you will find my favorite dough bowl, corbel, and scales adorned with, you guessed it...more pumpkins!

MUDROOM

Last, up on the tour, is my little mudroom off of the garage and laundry room. This little space is so fun to decorate, but it's also the catch-all as everyone comes in from the garage. So, it will soon be filled with backpacks, jackets, and shoes.

Bloggers Recognition Award!

Hey buddies! I'm writing this blog post because I was nominated earlier this week for the Bloggers Recognition Award. I was so surprised, and I'm very honored to be chosen! As part of receiving this award, it is my pleasure to nominate other bloggers that I think are deserving of this award. So read on to see who I nominated, because you will definitely want to check out these amazing bloggers!

Blogger Recognition Award

Starting a blog can be exciting and intimidating! It requires a lot of hard work! Countless hours writing and re-writing, and then worrying if anyone will even see all your efforts. So, for me being new to the blogging world, I was so beyond excited to hear that I had been nominated for this award! It is truly an amazing honor, and I can't wait to "pay it forward" in return to some other awe-inspiring bloggers. I want to send a huge "THANK YOU" to Gabby with her blog Military Mama's Farmhouse for nominating my blog for the "Bloggers Recognition Award!"

What is the Blogger Recognition Award?

The Blogger Recognition Award is given to bloggers by bloggers to show appreciation for the hard work and dedication put into their blog. This is an amazing award to be presented with, because from my experience starting a new blog is, “No walk in the park.”

It requires tons of energy, time, patience and a wide variety of skills–some of which you might have to learn. So, receiving this award is a great honor and each blogger who receives it should be proud of what they have accomplished, but should also remember this isn’t the finish line, just a milestone. There is always more growth and knowledge to obtain. Take this award wear it with pride and keep building your blog.

What is Military Mama's Farmhouse and who is Gabby?

The Story of Pollie's Place

I have always had a passion for design and home decor! I love having a vision and seeing it come to fruition. Not only in my home, but also for my clients. I'll be honest, I never envisioned starting a blog. First of all, I am not a writer! But, after starting my Instagram home decor page, I had so many wonderful friends asking me how they could re-create the designs on my feed. So, I thought it would be easier to share it all at one time, in one place. Thus, Pollie's Place Decor & Lifestyle Blog was born! I use the word "born" because it was truly a labor of love! I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but it has been so rewarding and therapeutic for me!

I am still very new at this whole blogging thing, and I'm learning everyday! I'm very thankful to those who took me under their wing and guided me as I began this journey a few months ago. I love collaborating with other bloggers and brands to inspire others to let their creative juices flow, and to realize that you don't have to break the bank to design the home you love!

To the bloggers I've nominated below, congratulations! Thank you for inspiring me and encouraging me everyday with your beautiful words and love for decor.

1. Julie and Jodie from The Design Twins

2. Meeghan from Cali Girl in a Southern World

3. Sarah from Our Vintage Farmhouse

4. Erin from Cotton Stem

6. Marci from Lemons to Lovelys

7. Sarah from Dreaming of Homemaking

My Advice to New Bloggers

1. You are already ahead! Diving into this blogging thing is no small feat. Be proud of yourself for becoming more technologically savvy. I mean, how many other people do you know in real life who are starting blogs? See? You’re ahead.

2. Don't get discouraged! There is a huge learning curve. We’ve all experienced it. It’s not just you, I promise. Take it slow. This is a marathon, not a sprint. I know it’s exciting at first, but when you start to feel a bit stumped, take a break and come back later. Otherwise, you’ll drive yourself crazy.

3. Set realistic goals for yourself. Post those goals in written form somewhere. When you sit down to work, ask yourself if what you’re doing is helping you get closer to those goals.

4. Connect with other bloggers that appear to have the same goals as you do. Be curious, observant, flexible, and just keep going. Try not to compare yourself to other bloggers. This is so easy to do, and I have to remind myself that we all started this journey the same way. So, just settle in for the long haul and know that creating a successful blog doesn't happen overnight.

Rules for Accepting this Award:

Pollie

Autumn Leaves & Pumpkins Please | Fall Home Tour

Happy Fall Y'all! I do have a love affair with this magnificent season. The crisp autumn leaves crunching under your boots, the smell of pumpkins in the air, sweatshirts and warm drinks, and the delicious colors nature paints for us. I love the warm days and cool nights, snuggling up with my love under a cozy blanket, cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers, and my favorite thing about fall is, of course, the PUMPKINS...big or small, I'll take them all! Now, I would love to have you follow along as I show you how I've added fall touches to my home!

Front Porch

I love decorating my front porch for fall! I usually pull out the traditional colors here and for my entryway, while the rest of my home stays pretty neutral. Here, I've placed a wreath on top of my urn with a pre-lit grapevine pumpkin from Pier 1, added some straw bales from Hobby Lobby, and an arrangement of pumpkins and gourds in different shapes and sizes.

Entryway

Like I said before, the entryway stays pretty traditional as I continue the hues of orange, yellow, and green inside.

Living Room

This room is probably my favorite room to decorate. I like to keep it pretty neutral in here with soft colors. This space has a mixture of real and faux pumpkins. Like I said...I LOVE them all, and I have never met a pumpkin I didn't like!

I cozied up the living room with some fresh autumn pillows. I added an old vintage wire basket to my coffee table to hold my pumpkin and gourd harvest. Going to the pumpkin patch for me is the highlight of the fall season. It brings back fond childhood memories of going to pick out that special pumpkin. Of course, I wanted them all them, and I want them all now!

I recently chalk painted this old door that I found at a yard sale for $10 (SCORE!) and I'm so excited that I finished it in time to decorate for fall! Then, I added a simple magnolia wreath and a few fall touches to complete the space.

Kitchen

In the kitchen, I like to keep things simple with just a few fall touches. This includes a simple mirror on my kitchen table topped with my "light as a feather scale" and adorned with green hops and pumpkins, as well as, a few small vignettes in which I incorporated my metal kitchen scale, vintage seltzer bottles, and adorable hand sketched wooden spoons from Daisy Sunday.

Dining Room

The dining room is by far my favorite room this year! Overall, the soft muted hues of blue, brown, and cream in these beautiful Autumn Bliss salad plates from Pier 1 were my color inspiration for my fall tablescape.
