An Invitation to Romance | How We Love Our Homes

Welcome friends! Today, I'm joining my blogging friends to offer you "An Invitation to Romance," to see how we love our homes for Valentine's Day. If you are coming over from Deborah's blog, Hip and Humble Style, welcome! I love everything she does. and I know you were inspired by her gorgeous home! You will find a list of the rest of the talented gals joining me on this Valentine's Round Up at the bottom of the post. Make sure you stop by all their beautiful posts for more ideas on how to "love your home!" I want to say a special THANK YOU to Kathy, A Delightsome Life, for all her dedication and hard work in hosting!

Ah, Valentine's Day, how I love thee! It's the bright spot in the middle of winter and has always been one of my favorite holidays! It might also be due to the fact that my birthday is the day before! I used to ask my Mom why she couldn't have waited to have me just ONE MORE DAY! I can't complain, because I get two days of presents instead of one! RIGHT! Who could be upset about that!

A Valentine's Tablescape

After I removed all the Christmas decor this year, I was craving simplicity. I kept the decor in my dining room very neutral for the winter. If you haven't seen my neutral winter home tour, you can see it all right HERE! However, Valentine's Day brings us the vibrant colors of red, pink, and white. Red is the color of love and passion, pink is the color of caring and compassion, and white is considered the purest color - innocent and clean.

I wanted the theme of my Valentine's tablescape to be elegant with a romantic feel and to incorporate all 3 of the colors mentioned above. I arranged my centerpiece with faux, white real touch tulips inside my lantern. Then, I flanked the lantern with my favorite candle holders from Pottery Barn. Next, I draped garland from Hobby Lobby down the table intertwined with eucalyptus. Subsequently, I added real touch tulips in red, pink, and white. This tablescape would work for a quiet dinner in with the family or for throwing a big Galentine's Day party for your go-to girls!

I did not want to spend a lot of money on a tablescape that would not be staying up long. So, I went to my 3 favorite stores (Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx, and Target) and found some amazing deals to add to what I already had.

  • Cake stand - Target $5.00

  • Heart bowl - TJ Maxx $3.99

  • Nicole Miller Bicycle Dinner Plates (set of 4)  - TJ Maxx $9.99

  • White linen napkins - Target dollar spot $1.00

  • Stemware - Hobby Lobby $3.00

I love raspberry infused water, and for these raspberry ice cubes, I simply used a heart shaped silicone mold. They add the perfect touch to your Valentine's Day tablescape!

The buffet is stocked with some of our favorite treats and took no time to set up. These white chocolate covered oreos just scream decadence and love. They are so easy to make and the kids can definitely help out!

This White Chocolate Popcorn is also super fun and easy to make! What you will need:

  • 20 cups popped popcorn (2 microwave bags)

  • 16 oz. white chocolate candy coating or melts

  • Pink candy melts

  • Valentine sprinkles

Start off by melting your white chocolate according to the package directions. Place the popcorn in a large bowl and pour the melted white chocolate over the popcorn. Stir to coat. Line a cookie sheet with foil and spoon your popcorn mixture into the pan, covering it completely. Add some sprinkles. Then, melt your pink candy melts according to the package directions. Drizzle over the popcorn, add more sprinkles, and let harden for about 30 minutes. Everyone will love it!

Neutral Winter Home Decor Blog Hop

Today, I'm joining a group of talented bloggers for a Neutral Winter Home Decor Blog Hop! If you are coming over from Rhonda's blog, Hallstrom Home, welcome! I know you were inspired by her gorgeous winter decor! You will find links to the rest of the talented gals joining me on the blog hop at the bottom of the post. Make sure you stop by all their beautiful homes for more winter decor inspiration.

Let's face it, when the Christmas decor comes down, it can be a little depressing. The house feels really bare and empty. Many of us ask ourselves, "Now what?" I'm now quite ready to start pulling out the spring decor just yet, because it is still cold here in Tennessee. So, for the winter season I like to bring in the "warm and cozy" by incorporating lots of neutrals, whites, and textures. This year I wanted to keep it really simple and natural by using winter greens and other rustic elements.

When friends and family enter my home, I want it to feel warm and inviting. A place to hunker down and escape from the cold. Winter decor is more laid-back, more relaxed, and simplistic. You know, the "you can hang out in your sweatpants here all day" vibe - just relaxed and cozy. To me, cotton and lambs ear add those elements of warmth. Nothing jumps out at you, it's just easy and definitely says winter.

In my family room, I wasn't quite ready to give up all the twinkle lights, so I decided to keep this skinny flocked tree up. Snowy tree + twinkle lights = cozy!

Don't be afraid to combine textures. You can do this by adding cozy pillows and throws. Birch logs are always an essential decor piece for me during the winter season. I use them everywhere. In addition, I change out the candles in my lanterns to birch candles.

I have had these Park Hill lanterns from Pottery Barn for several years, and I still love them! I use them throughout the year. They transition nicely from season to season.

We tend to hibernate in the family room during the winter season. The entire family piles in here to hang out, watch TV, do homework, and sometimes eat.

How adorable are these 2 signs for the winter season! They are both made by the talented Banner Girls. The plaid pillows are handmade by my amazing friend Bianca (With Lavender and Grace).

The last room we are going to visit, is my dining room. I wanted to really keep things simple in here after Christmas. Therefore, I added a little bit of color with some garland, pine cones, and candles. I also, just recently changed out my area rug in here to the Conlin by Joss & Main, and I'm loving the muted vintage look it has.
