O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, How Faithful are thy Branches...
Since I was a little girl, Christmas has always been such a magical time! I owe my love of Christmas to my parents. They made the season so special for me. We always went to the local garden center and picked out a live tree and had it flocked. We sang Christmas carols and drank hot cocoa, while we decorated the tree. Each Christmas, I feel that little giddy girl inside me again as I decorate not only my home, but also my clients homes. I see each tree as a piece or art. I love seeing the joy and excitement on my clients faces as I transform their homes into a winter wonderland. Today, I'm going to share with you my "Winter Wonderland!"
As you can see, I still have a great affection for flocked Christmas trees. Even though, these are not real like the ones in my childhood, they are still beautiful and magical! Each tree in our home has a theme and a special meaning behind it. There is a lot of thought and planning that goes into every ornament, ribbon, and fill-in. Each tree to me is very personal, even those I decorate for others. I feel like the tree should tell a story. I know you are probably thinking I'm crazy; but I eat, breath, and sleep Christmas! I am already planning now for what I want to do next year.
As we make our way from the formal living room and entryway, we come into my favorite room to decorate for Christmas. The family room is where we hang out most of the time. So, I wanted this tree to be more cozy and less formal.
(Mocha loves to lay here in the sun.)
The family room is open into the kitchen, and I love that we can sit and eat dinner with the twinkling lights of the Christmas Tree. I found the three little trees on my kitchen table at TJ Maxx. They were handmade in the Philippines and just what I had been looking for.
I decided to step out of my neutral comfort zone and add a little red to the dining room. My Inspiration for this room came from the "Silly Stag" plates I found at Pottery Barn. For a cheap table cloth, I just had fabric cut at Hobby Lobby. Then, I just added some cotton that I already had to the tree and greenery.
The last tree on the tour, is my favorite! This special tree lives in the "Man Cave." It is the traditional red and green, and it has all my boys ornaments on it. It even has a pair of their little green sneakers they both wore as infants. Cue in the water works! The sled was a gift from their great-grandmother when they were little boys. Every year I give the boys each a special ornament before Christmas to add to this tree.
It has been a pleasure having you tour my "Winter Wonderland!" I hope that I was able to inspire you to remember the magic of Christmas that you felt as a child and not let the hustle and bustle of the season take the joy out of it. I would love to hear how you decorate for the holidays and what traditions you incorporate into your home; please share in the comments below! I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
